Customs duty is one area that is largely overlooked by business. This is for a number of reasons but primarily because it is not as visible as other charges associated with the supply chain.
Many companies will build their margins around the cost of the imported product and pay little attention to whether this cost can be reduced. In most cases it can and we understand how.
We offer a complete review of the importer’s customs duty arrangements over a three year retrospective window. This involves analysis of all import declarations, binding rulings, valuation statements, duty demands etc.
The purpose of the review is to ascertain the correct duty position and to seek ways of making the import process more efficient both from a cost and resource perspective. It often transpires that the importer has overpaid duty and where this has occurred, we will manage the recovery of these funds.
The review is designed to inconvenience the importer as little as possible. To this end, we conduct the review in total isolation of the company, providing regular progress reports. The extent to which the importer can be involved in the process varies and we are flexible to your requirements.
Where we identify areas where we believe a duty saving can be made, we bring this to the attention of the importer immediately and will only approach Customs where there is agreement to do so.
The review is free of charge as we only charge a fee where we can bring about a reclaim of duty or demonstrate tangible savings on future imports. Please see our section relating to charges.
